Show jumping gold, yummy curry and bring Sally up...
Olivia wins gold
Congratulations to Olivia Foster in Year 11 who won both of her events last weekend in Cornwall. As well as working hard on her GCSEs she is still managing to compete at the highest level.
Year 11 Hospitality & Catering
Our Year 11 Hospitality and Catering students recently completed their Practical Assessments with great success. They had to illustrate a range of technical, cooking and presentational skills in the production of a meal for a bespoke bistro. The attention to detail and care in presenting the dishes was exceptional. I hope these photos give you a taste of their wonderful dishes and their hard work.
Year 9 Spanish GCSE fiesta!
The Year 9 Spanish students have just finished learning about food and drink in cycle 3 and it was very well timed because it was Shania’s birthday so we had a fiesta. 9B got to try some typical Spanish food such as tortilla, chorizo, olives and Fanta naranja. I think that we can safely say they enjoyed their Spanish food sampling! Well done Year 9 on your brilliant efforts in Spanish so far.
Litter picking
James and George Scrimgeour spent two hours in the Easter holidays litter picking and clearing up in their local area, they have definitely earned some extra pocket money. Well done and thank you, boys!
Yummy Curry!
The Year 9 Catering & Hospitality students were very busy making chicken curry this morning – the smells coming out of the kitchen were amazing!
Dance success!
Aliyah has been a part of the South West Tap Attack Associates since September last year and has completed online lessons due to the pandemic. She auditioned in March to continue her journey with them and was successful and her training starts back in May. She also attends a monthly lesson in Swindon.
Return of Sport – Girls Football
It is lovely to see that we are getting back to some sort of normality on the sports front. Many of our students are now not only attending our after school provision but they have started playing for their weekend teams again. It is always pleasing to see our players doing well; one such player is year 9 student Jazz Povey. Jazz plays for Torquay United U14s and at the weekend they marked their return to football with a 3-2 victory over Cullompton Rangers. It was reported that the game was an excellent advert for local football, exciting right up until the end. The icing on the cake for Jazz was that she was awarded the player of the game because of her hugely consistent and reliable performance. Jazz excelled both on the wing and in an defensive position, preventing Cullompton breakaways on countless occasions. Well done Jazz and to everyone else who is back playing sport.
