Last weekend’s trip marked the first outing of our brand-new Girls Outdoor Project Initiative, and it was the ultimate test of resilience, adaptability, and team spirit. Friday 24 April 2026 Dance Success, CCF Leadership & Conservation Project We are delighted to celebrate the fantastic achievement of Sienna Painter in Year 11, who recently competed in the Torbay Dance Festival over the Easter break. The event, held at the Palace Theatre Paignton, brought together talented dancers from across the region. Sienna delivered an outstanding performance and was awarded 1st place in the Senior Modern Championships - an incredible accomplishment!

Friday 3 April 2026 Easter Celebrations, The Masked Singer & GB Selection Students were treated to a fantastic Masked Singer event on The Platform, featuring two solo performances and a brilliant duet. The Brunel Bear, the Easter Bunny, the Harrison Hornet and the Nearne Nighthawk took to the stage, entertaining the crowd and getting everyone singing along.

Friday 27 March 2026 National Success, Careers Fair & Flying a plane Two of our students got to fly a plane this weekend, Harrison said "I just landed after flying, very very enjoyable, got to take control of the aircraft and do some maneuvers, also did some zero-G stuff so I was weightless and floating for a few seconds!".

Friday 6 February 2026 Human Rights Week inspires Year 9, mock exams begin, Cadets in action Fun Friday once again brought a fantastic end to the week at Torquay Academy, with every year group enjoying activities that rewarded effort, built community, and created plenty of smiles across the site.Year 7 showed impressive competitive spirit in their Basketball Shootout, with pupils cheering each other on and celebrating every successful shot.Year 8 tested their guessing skills in the ever popular Sweets in the Jar challenge, with plenty of debate over how many treats could possibly fit inside.Year 9 enjoyed a lively game of Higher or Lower, with suspense building as each new card was revealed and competitors tried to keep their winning streak alive.Meanwhile, both Year 10 and Year 11 brought confidence and entertainment to the platform with Karaoke, as students took to the microphone and delivered performances that had friends and staff singing along.Fun Friday continues to be a brilliant way to celebrate hard work, strengthen friendships, and end the week on a positive note acr

Friday 23 January 2026 House sport, teamwork and brilliant competition Our Year 12 Art students have been exploring experimental printmaking through TetraPak etching and gelli printing, developing both technical skill and conceptual depth. Inspired by the Ghostbuildings series of Karen Wicks, students transformed recycled TetraPak cartons into etched printing plates, capturing architectural forms, negative space, and a sense of absence through line, texture, and tone. Alongside this, students worked with gelli plates to experiment with image transfer and layered texture stencils, building complex surfaces through repetition, transparency, and mark-making. The combination of sustainable materials and layered processes encouraged risk-taking and thoughtful reflection, resulting in prints that balance structure with atmosphere and demonstrate a sophisticated engagement with contemporary print practices.
