Friday 18 July 2025 National Innovation, Sports Day, Barcelona and Activities week We are buzzing with pride after three of its brilliant teams were shortlisted for the prestigious National Innovation Challenge, vying for a prize trip to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston! This is a truly fantastic achievement, with our school making up three of the final ten school teams nationally.

Friday 11 July 2025 SummerFest, World Netball Games and awards nights On Friday, the sun shone brightly over Torquay Academy as our entire school community came together to celebrate Summerfest 2025, a festival organised entirely by our dedicated Year 12 Music and Music Technology students. Months of planning and teamwork culminated in an unforgettable afternoon of music, creativity, and community spirit.

Friday 4 July 2025 Street to Stadium, GB call up and Geography field trip Mrs Horton and Mrs Thompson took a group of girls from years 9 and 10 to compete in a Dragons Den style STEM event. The girls had to design and present an idea to help prevent fast fashion and reduce the amount of textile waste.

Friday 20 June 2025 Last day for Year 11, empowering girls and SummerFest launch On Monday, our Year 11 students reached a major milestone as the majority sat their final GCSE exam, Physics, in the morning. After weeks of hard work and revision, it was time to breathe out and celebrate the end of an important chapter.

Friday 13 June 2025 South Devon Champions, Dragons Den prize and DofE Bronze expedition A huge congratulations to our incredible student team who won the recent Dragons’ Den competition with their creative and well-pitched ideas! As part of their prize, the team visited the Epic Centre in Paignton, a cutting-edge hub for videography, media production, and presentation skills.

Friday 6 June 2025 South Devon Champions, Racing car win and sharp shooters It may still be early in the GreenPower racing season, but our team has already made a big impression. At the recent race weekend held at the iconic Castle Combe circuit, our students delivered an outstanding performance that saw us crowned champions.

Friday 23 May 2025 Buckingham Palace, National Champion and I get cold and wet Over the last two weeks, we have had students travelling up to London to attend garden parties at Buckingham Palace. This has been in recognition of their fantastic achievement of completing their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards.

Friday 16 May 2025 Ten Tors, flying and Devon Champions Last weekend, five teams from our school took on one of the toughest youth challenges in the UK: the Ten Tors Challenge on Dartmoor. Organised annually by the British Army, Ten Tors is a test of stamina, teamwork, and resilience that pushes young people to their limits.

Friday 14 March 2025 National Athletics and Ju Jitsu Champions and Netball in National Finals It has been a busy end to the indoor season for Keeley Little. She has been crowned England Athletics National Champion indoors over 200m at under 17. She ran a personal best time of 24.47 in the final.
