Principal certificates, celebration and lots of Year 7s...
Live music returns
On Thursday the Year 13s performed their assessed live music performances. It was wonderful to see these gifted students performing in The Platform again. I will share videos of them next week.
The two bands were:
Alex Corbett, William Hoyte, Liv Davies, Jenna Parker, George Swift and Jordan Wicks
Tom White, Olly Cartwright-Lomax, Alex Corbett, Archie Endicott and Joe Hedworth
Show jumping news
Just before the latest lockdown Dolce Zulhayir, in Year 7, entered a Spring Festival Showjumping qualifying event at the Bicton Arena.
She was competing against a very strong field of 38 competitors, with the top 3 jumpers qualifying to go through to the next round that are just one step away from the National Championships. Dolce did amazingly well to finish in top spot and take 1st place overall, having posted a very quick jump-off round. We wish her all the very best for the future and hopefully will be reporting back after she has qualified for and competed in the National finals. Well done, Dolce.
Annie
The Year 7 Performing Arts Academy students have been auditioning for roles in our Year 7 musical, Annie. On Tuesday the roles were announced. There is so much talent in the year group and I can’t wait to see how the rehearsals progress over the coming months.
Performing Arts Christmas
One of the highlights of every year is our Christmas concert. Students from all year groups have been recording a special song that I will be able to share with you in the final blog before Christmas
Literacy
The winning tutor groups in year 7 and 8 enjoyed their pizza parties this week for achieving the most successful quizzes during cycle 1. Miss Smale and Mrs Kirby’s tutor group won in Year 8 and Mr Davis’ group won in Year 7. It’s all to play for again next cycle with another opportunity to win a tutor group party in cycle 2. Get reading and quizzing to lead your house to victory!
Year 7 gymnastics
This week our Year 7s had their first gymnastics lesson with Miss Walkin. She was very impressed with them and is looking forward to seeing them progress during this quarter.
Year 7 Food
Year 7 have been making American Pancakes with Mr Hadley this week. His only complaint was that the students didn’t share their pancakes with him!
Outstanding Mindset for Effort
Mr Chadwick and Miss Maw celebrated students who achieved top effort in Year 8 by handing out their badges this week. These students have all worked incredibly hard so far this year.
Maths Intervention
Some students from Year 7 have been working exceptionally hard with Mrs Aplin during their Period 1 intervention. They’ve worked hard all week to master the strategies of long and short multiplication.
Year 7 Fun Friday
It was a Heads or Tails competition this week in Years 7 and 8!
Last week group skipping was back by popular demand!
