Preparing for our students’ return
On Monday I sat watching the Prime Minister deliver the roadmap for students to return to schools. I am pleased at how quickly we put in place a plan to get students tested and back; we got a letter to parents and carers outlining this plan on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the inevitable happened and the guidelines changed allowing us to bring students back into school before the 8th March to be tested. Plans were rewritten and a new letter was sent on Thursday!
I am very proud that we have a robust plan in place that will enable us to welcome all of our 1,481 students back into school and into lessons on Monday 8th March. We are all very excited at the prospect of seeing everyone again soon.
Testing in School Continues
All staff members have continued to be tested twice a week in The Platform. From Sunday staff will move to self-testing at home.
Positive Mindset with MADE training
Year 9 and Year 10 students who are in school this week have had an interactive careers session with Sander from MADE, in conjunction with Next Steps South West.
The sessions took place via Google Meet with students and teachers logging in to hear about maintaining a positive mindset and taking steps to make active changes to their habits, outlook and relationships.
All the students responded really thoughtfully and they enjoyed the sessions. They contributed well through the video call and learned a lot of useful new skills.
Ten Tors 2021: 7th – 9th May
The Army has worked hard to make a covid secure event which is amazing considering. As a result, we will be training on the dates below. If you would like to come out walking on Dartmoor then please get in touch with John Brett or Simon Cawood and we can give you more details. No previous experience is necessary although walking boots are a good idea. Unfortunately, there will be no camping this year.
Dates for the training walks are:
Sat 13th March
Sat 27th March
Sat 17th April
Sat 24th April
Design & Technology
As part of home learning in Design & Technology this week, students were set an optional extension task to make bread rolls. Well done to Ollie, Kasja-Lily and Sophie for sharing their hard work in these photos. We can’t wait to get everyone back in school for more great bakes in our D&T lessons!
