PAA online, dance, TA's answer to Joe Wicks & Testing Continues
Performing Arts Academy
Our wonderful performing arts Academy has been able to continue with some students in school and others joining in virtually via Google Hangouts. The year sevens are continuing with the rehearsals for Annie, which we are determined to have ready to perform in whichever way we can! It was lovely to see the smiles on everyone’s faces are students will not only able to take part in their singing, dancing and acting sessions, but had the opportunity to speak to each other as well.
Dance competition
Phoebe Denbow, in year 7, and Rebecca Glasson, in year 8, competed in the South West Online Dance Festival Competition this week. Not only are the girls good friends, they both dance at Buckingham Dance Studios in Paignton, and have done amazingly well in the competition this week.
Rebecca won 6 golds, 3 silver and a bronze and Phoebe gained 1 gold and 4 bronze medals competing with dancers from all over the South West, so it is a massive achievement.
In these difficult times, the girls have continued to do their dance classes via Zoom, which has really helped them stay focused. We will hopefully have some more good news soon, as we are waiting for their Ballet, Modern/ Jazz and Tap exam results that both girls took in December.
TA’s answer to Joe Wicks
We have not one, but two of our very own Joe Wicks! Mr Hogg and Mr Edwards have led students on a weekly workout.
Table Tennis training
Miss Lacinska-Piwowar, our table tennis coach, has continued to put her players through their regular gruelling training routine in spite of the lockdown. Many of our students also play for Torbay Table Tennis Academy where she coaches. Great work here Kai, Will H, Will B, Ivan, Norbert and Jakub!
Food Technology

It has been so good to see our students producing practical work in their Essential School Technology lessons. They have been busy baking cheese and plain scones this week and the finished results looked delicious. I was also very impressed by the amazing creations produced from home. Max Beer in yr nine made the most incredible looking Oreo cheesecake with a detailed written evaluation of the finished product.
Well done to all of you baking from home- please continue to send in photos of them!! It’s lovely to hear from you and see your achievements.
Testing continues
We have continued the testing of all staff and students this week. The process has been put in place in order to try and identify any member of our school community who is carrying the virus but has not displayed any symptoms. This does not replace any of the Covid secure measures that we have in place, it is an additional layer of precaution.
Students in school
The students who are in school are continuing to follow the learning program. We are very grateful to all of our parents who are playing a critical role within our community at this time and we are delighted to be able to support them undertaking these essential roles by being able to have their children in school.
TA in pictures
This morning there was a beautiful sunrise over The Platform.
There was a strange sky and a hint of a rainbow over the school this week.
