year 11 last day

On Monday, our Year 11 students reached a major milestone as the majority sat their final GCSE exam, Physics, in the morning. After weeks of hard work and revision, it was time to breathe out and celebrate the end of an important chapter.

To mark the occasion, each student received a complimentary copy of their yearbook – a keepsake full of memories, friendships and moments from their time at school. With the sun shining and spirits high, students gathered together for over an hour, signing shirts, sharing stories and enjoying each other’s company.

There was a lovely atmosphere as many staff came down to wish them well and celebrate with them on their final day. It was a chance to reflect, laugh and look ahead, with the prom now firmly in their sights!

We’re incredibly proud of this group of young people and everything they’ve achieved. We can’t wait to see them again at the prom to celebrate in style.

Empowering Girls Event

This Wednesday, a small group of Year 9 girls from TA attended the 'Empowering Girls' celebration event in Exeter. The celebration recognised the girls' completion of the Empowering Girls, which pairs inspiring women with 13-14-year-old girls to help them build confidence and achieve their aspirations.

The event served as a wrap-up of the programme, where the girls received certificates and enjoyed a networking lunch. This provided an opportunity for them to connect with their mentors and other girls who had completed the program.

A highlight of the day was a Q&A session with a guest speaker—Zakiyah Shani—a successful makeup artist who regularly works with celebrities and major publications.

Throughout the day, our girls were enthusiastic participants in the sessions and were exemplary representatives of the school. We're incredibly proud of them and everything they've achieved.

Summerfest launch

On Friday, our school was buzzing with excitement as Fun Friday gave way to a SummerFest Takeover. In the glorious sunshine, students were treated to a preview of what’s to come at SummerFest 2024, which takes place on Friday 11th July.

The atmosphere was incredible – a perfect blend of music, games and summer joy. Live bands and DJs provided the soundtrack to the afternoon, while students enjoyed carnival games, browsed the merch stand, and queued (very patiently!) for the ever-popular ice cream stall. The weather couldn’t have been better, and the energy around the school made it feel like summer had truly arrived.

A huge thank you to our brilliant Year 12 students for organising the takeover. It was a fantastic taster of what promises to be an unforgettable day in July. We can’t wait for the main event!

Year 9 baseline testing

Year 9 worked very hard on their baseline testing for English yesterday, getting the feel for what sitting an exam will be like.  We will use the results of this to inform our intervention strategy next year.

House News

Monday saw the culmination of the Year 7 Blockbusters final with excited students from Kitson and Brunel hoping to win for their house.

The final match was very closely fought out with good answers and strategic blocking. Ultimately, the winners had to be decided with a head-to- head answer. Although Kitson competed valiantly, Brunel emerged victorious.

All finalists received individual prizes with extra treat for 7B to share. The house cup is now proudly displayed in the Brunel tutor room.

The photograph shows Brunel winners: Ollie Beamish, Cole Barton, Lilly Jones and Tehya Quennell celebrating their victory with Miss Pappin and Henry McManus. Congratulations also to Evie Jewell who played so well in two out of three matches.

Year 7 Maths with Mr Beattie

It's been fantastic to see the enthusiasm of our Year 7 mathematicians as they dive into the fascinating world of algebra with Mr. Beattie! This can often be a challenging topic, but our students have truly embraced it with a fantastic willingness to learn and improve.

Currently, they've been focusing on the skill of expanding algebraic brackets. It's a fundamental concept that lays the groundwork for more complex algebraic operations, and the students have been demonstrating their understanding brilliantly.

Using their mini whiteboards, they've been actively showcasing their newfound knowledge to Mr. Beattie, allowing for instant feedback and a clear view of their progress. It's clear that their hard work is really paying off!

Well done, Year 7, keep up the excellent work!
