student leadership
Our Student Leadership Team made us proud today with an amazing assembly to the year 7s. They introduced who they are and their interests, along with announcing that they are taking Year 7 applications for the Student Council! Our Student Leadership Team continue to be fantastic role models for the younger students within the school. We are excited to see how many year 7s follow in their footsteps and join our incredible Student Council.
Year 12 Art
Our Year 12 Art students have been exploring experimental printmaking through TetraPak etching and gelli printing, developing both technical skill and conceptual depth. Inspired by the Ghostbuildings series of Karen Wicks, students transformed recycled TetraPak cartons into etched printing plates, capturing architectural forms, negative space, and a sense of absence through line, texture, and tone. Alongside this, students worked with gelli plates to experiment with image transfer and layered texture stencils, building complex surfaces through repetition, transparency, and mark-making. The combination of sustainable materials and layered processes encouraged risk-taking and thoughtful reflection, resulting in prints that balance structure with atmosphere and demonstrate a sophisticated engagement with contemporary print practices.
Year 13 Art

Our Year 13 art students Tayler Reynolds and Kara Wills recently led a hands-on bookbinding workshop with our Year 12 art cohort. Drawing on their own experience, Tayler and Kara guided students through the process of creating mini sketchbooks, sharing practical tips and techniques along the way.
The workshop gave Year 12 students the opportunity to produce their own personalised sketchbooks, which they will now use to record observations, ideas, and visual research throughout their Personal Investigation projects. It was a valuable peer-led learning experience that fostered collaboration, skill sharing, and creative confidence across year levels.

Year 11 students have been getting exam ready by learning about graph transformations. Here they are using their whiteboard to write graph transformations in function form and column vector form.
Sleeping beauty
Daisy took part in the pantomim at The Princess Theatre, she learnt 10 routines in 7 days then performed in 17 shows throughout December. Daisy got asked to perform in extra dances with the professional dancers on a few occasions when a few went sick. She got the nickname of super swing and she loved every minute of it. Well done Daisy!
Fun Friday
Fun Friday was back this week and once again brought a real buzz across the school, with different year groups enjoying activities tailored to them.
Year 7 kicked things off with a lively quiz, testing their general knowledge and teamwork. The room was full of energy, friendly competition and plenty of laughter as teams battled it out.
Year 8 took on the ever-popular Sweets in the Jar challenge. Estimation skills were put to the test as students tried to guess just how many sweets were packed inside. There were some wildly optimistic guesses and a lot of careful counting.
For Years 9, 10 and 11, the Platform was the place to be. Live music created a brilliant atmosphere at lunchtime, giving students the chance to relax, socialise and enjoy performances from talented musicians. Seeing older students engage positively in a shared space like this continues to be a real highlight of Fun Friday.
Fun Friday remains an important part of school life, creating space for students to connect, have fun and finish the week on a high.

health and social care
All Key Stage 3 Health and Social Care lessons have focused on the key factors required for coursework, while also supporting Year 11 students in their final push towards the summer exam.
Year 9 have been studying the physical factors that influence human development, with a particular focus on inherited conditions such as Cystic Fibrosis and Sickle Cell Disease.
Year 10 are developing their understanding of key health conditions that may be assessed in their second coursework unit. This week’s focus has been on Dementia, a condition that sadly affects not only the individual but also their family and friends.
Finally, Year 11 are revisiting prior learning, concentrating on exercise. This includes exploring its benefits and limitations, understanding government guidelines, and practising how to effectively answer exam-style questions.
