greenpower update
It may still be early in the GreenPower racing season, but our team has already made a big impression. At the recent race weekend held at the iconic Castle Combe circuit, our students delivered an outstanding performance that saw us crowned champions.
With carefully planned tactics and superb teamwork, every driver rose to the occasion. In what proved to be an incredibly close and hard-fought race, our team’s composure and consistency paid off, and we proudly brought home the trophy.
This victory marks a fantastic start to the season, and we’re excited to see what more we can achieve as the year unfolds. Well done to all involved!
alabama museum visit
During their recent trip to Alabama, our GreenPower motorsports students visited the world-renowned Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, home to one of the largest collections of motorcycles and race cars on the planet. As well as exploring the museum’s stunning displays, the students had the unforgettable opportunity to go out on the track in a Porsche — an experience they’ll never forget. These are some of the incredible photos from that day which have just been shared with us.
summerfest MEETING
I have met with the Year 12s this week where they presented their ideas for this year's Summer Fest. I was very impressed with their ideas and I am sure that this year will be another incredible success. Let's hope for some sun!
Year 10 statistics

Sharpshooters, Stealth, and Smart Moves!
This week’s cadet parade at Torquay Academy was full of action, precision, and a few clever surprises.
Our RAF cadets headed to the range for Air Rifle Target Practice, delivering some incredible shots that impressed all involved. The scores were a testament to their steady hands and sharp focus, a direct result of their excellent weapon-handling training.
Elsewhere, our Year 9 and 10 cadets took on leadership roles, instructing lessons in fieldcraft and drill. Some even disappeared into the treeline, lying in wait as a hidden enemy force. Their well-timed ambush took the Year 8 cadets by surprise during their pairs fire and manoeuvre practice, a great example of how hands-on learning brings training to life!
On the parade square, cadets also focused on marching techniques, practising left and right wheeling with precision and teamwork. Meanwhile, over on the main field, other cadets were engaged in a vital skill, judging distances, using visual markers and reference points to improve their field awareness and tactical thinking.
As always, it was fantastic to see cadets learning, leading, and developing new skills in a fun and challenging environment. Well done to everyone involved!
Christie's helpers!
Seren and Farah were Mr Jones's helpers this week. They were modelling some new shades and snakes!

Emily's gymnastics success
In March, Emily qualified for the British Gymnastics National Finals, which took place from 23rd-25th of May. She not only helped the South West become British Champions for her grade, she also placed 3rd individually on floor, getting herself a second medal. Well done, Emily!

year 8 south devon football final
Congratulations to our outstanding Year 8 football team, who have achieved a remarkable double triumph by adding the South Devon Cup to their County Cup title!
In a thrilling final against TBGS, the teams went into half-time level at 2–2. However, an excellent second-half performance from Torquay Academy saw our players step up with skill, composure, and determination to take full control of the match. The final score: 5–2 to TA.
The goals on the day came from Gio ⚽️⚽️, Calum ⚽️⚽️, and Alfie ⚽️, capping off a fantastic team display in front of a brilliant crowd.
A huge thank you goes to all the parents and supporters who came along to cheer the team on. Your encouragement means a great deal to the players and staff.
Well done to every player involved — a brilliant achievement that reflects your hard work, talent, and team spirit. We look forward to more success ahead!
