Subject Choices

At Torquay Academy Sixth Form, we have designed our varied curriculum to meet the needs of the wide range of students that we will cater for. This means that you can choose to follow a very traditional academic A Level programme, a more vocational programme, choosing courses that build practical skills at the same time as developing your academic abilities or a combination of both.

Advanced Level study is challenging but highly rewarding and we aim to help students fulfil their potential during their two years in the Sixth Form. It is crucial to make sure that the courses you choose are right for your interests, skills and ambitions, and our admissions process will support you in doing this.

Alongside opportunities to gain formal qualifications and vocational training there is a full range of enrichment activities which will enable you to build a programme that is varied, relevant to your needs, motivating and enjoyable.

Every student will have a personal tutor who will be an academic mentor and provide specialised support together with careers advice and guidance.

Please note:
Any student that has not achieved at least a level 4 in GCSE English Language and/or Maths will be required to continue studying these subjects in the Sixth Form.
