PA to Principal

Salary Range: LG Scale point 18-23 (£24,313 – £26,999)

We require a highly professional, personable and efficient Principal’s Personal Assistant to support the effective strategic and day-to-day management of the Academy. The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal and Senior Leadership Team. The role comprises of secretarial, personnel and project management tasks. High standards of communication, inter-personal and organisational skills are essential.The position is a full time vacancy (40 hours a week) for 52 weeks a year. It includes term time working plus staff training days and 12 days of work in the school holidays.  The core hours of work are 7.45 am to 4.15 pm Monday to Friday.

Our English department is one of the highest performing comprehensive departments in the South West. Our current progress 8 score is 0.72, 84% of pupils achieve a grade four and above and 39% of pupils achieve a grade 7 and above. Last summer 30 pupils achieved grade 9s across both GCSEs. These results have been achieved as a result of our unshakeable belief in the democratic right of all pupils, regardless of background, to the highest canonical, critical and theoretical knowledge of language and literature.We teach medieval literature from Year 7 and pupils progress through the canon building up a holistic knowledge of both western and non-white literature by the time they reach Year 10. If you are passionate about classical literature, and believe all pupils without question deserve access to the highest-level knowledge then this is the department for you.We support our pupils with stripped back, knowledge-based and teacher led lessons. We assess through extended essays (by Year 11 pupils write weekly timed essays) as well as via multiple choice knowledge tests built on our interleaved curriculum.
