We are looking for someone with experience of working with autistic students to support us in the development of our provision for autistic students.

Main duties would include –

  • Supporting autistic students to access a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Completing referrals for Autism to be assessed as supporting families through this process.
  • Supporting the development of plans for autistic students so they can thrive in the classroom.
  • Develop the use of AV1 robots and how they can support autistic students to access a wide curriculum.
  • Development of interventions to support autistic students in learning about themselves and how they can best support their own learning.
  • The use of social stories to be used within the department.
  • To support all staff in developing the best provision possible for autistic students.

Training will also be given in how to help support students in examinations with reading, scribing, prompting or any other access arrangement that may be required. For parts of the academic year all Teaching Assistants need to support the examinations process.

Teaching Assistant
Salary Range: Scale Point 5 – 6 £19,650 – £20,043 FTEActual amount paid: £16,598 – £16,930
Hours per week: 36.5Weeks per annum: 39
Closing Date: 11.07.22 Interview Date:  13.07.22
Required in September 2022, a permanent Teaching Assistant, whose duty will be to support students with specific needs. Duties may include supporting students with intimate care needs; if you have further questions around the nature of this support then please make contact before you apply.

Duties will also include supporting and developing student’s self-regulation skills, social skills and language skills. You will take responsibility for ensuring the students can access all curriculum learning and fulfil their academic potential under an agreed system of supervision. Duties may include assisting with creating bespoke timetables to fit around the students and their needs, delivering and planning for bespoke interventions, supporting the student in optimising the use of technology where appropriate, monitoring their movements around the school and managing sensitive issues that arise, being the daily link with parents and class teachers.Training will be given in how to help support students in examinations with reading, scribing, prompting or any other access arrangement that may be required. For parts of the academic year all Teaching Assistants need to support the examinations process.

If you are a good communicator and have experience of working with young people in a learning environment; the ability to encourage and nurture students to learn and to maintain discipline in the classroom and can work flexibly during the course of the year, we would like to hear from you.
