Creative Writing

Creative Writing is a chance to explore and develop narrative structure. We study a range of successful authors across a range of genres and write our own extended piece of fiction.

 

Year 12

Students follow the AS Creative Writing course.  It is examined by AQA.  Students have 8 lessons per fortnight and they will receive one piece of homework per week.
Quarter 1 What makes an author successful and the publishing industry
Quarter 2 Genre fiction
Quarter 3 Writing non fiction and coursework
Quarter 4 Exam skills and journalism

Year 13

Students follow the A2 Creative Writing course.  It is examined by AQA.  Students have 8 lessons per fortnight and they will receive one piece of homework per week.
Quarter 1 Poetry and Drama
Quarter 2 Writing for TV
Quarter 3 Drafting and structuring a piece of extended fiction
Quarter 4 Revision and exam skills
