Our students have celebrated an incredible record-breaking set of results today. We are so proud of how they have worked throughout their GCSE courses and they have received the results they richly deserve. Once again the school’s students have far outperformed national averages.
85% and 74% of students were successful in passing English and maths respectively. There was a very strong set of grades in Science as 78% of students passed the subject.
We have great pride in the wide range of course that we offer which enables our students to pursue subjects they have a passion for, in addition to our academic curriculum.
Whilst students of all abilities are celebrated as they exceeded their target grades, I believe a special mention should go to Noah Johnson who achieved nine top grades. These are a remarkable set of marks; less than 0.1% of students nationally achieve these.
Many other students achieved the highly coveted grade 9 – there were 30 in English alone. Six students scored 9s in both English Literature and English Language.
I, along with the rest of the staff, are very proud of our students and we look forward to welcoming the majority of them back into the Sixth Form in a couple of weeks.
Our Chair of Governors, Vince Flower, came in this morning to see many of our students collect their results. He told me “I am delighted with the results our students have achieved this year; they will enable them to go on and achieve in the Sixth Form and then at university, in an apprenticeship or career. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated group of teachers who have given up so much of their free time to provide additional support for their students.”
