Year 11s focus on the GCSE prize
Our Year 11s were in school every day over half term to take part in extra revision sessions that our teachers put on for them. I am very grateful to our staff who give up their holidays and weekends in order to support our hard working Year 11s.
Each morning before their exams, the students have a briefing session for some last minute prep before going into the exam hall.
Something to brighten up a rainy day…..
10T2 have had great success in Miss King’s annual sunflower growing competition this week. All students have grown their plant from a seed, have been watering them each lesson and taking great delight in watching them grow. After returning from their half term break they were were very excited to find their plants in full flower (Jack, Brad, Els, Joe, Sam and Shaun are pictured below). All the students in year 10 have been studying the conditions of plant growth and the process of photosynthesis in the ‘Bioenergetics’ module of their GCSE course. It is great to see such enthusiasm and drive to learn from our students here at Torquay Academy.
Year 9 Parents’ Evening
This week was our Year 9 Parents’ Evening, giving our Year 9 parents the opportunity to speak with subject teachers to discuss the progress and targets of their children. They are coming to the end of their first year of GCSE study and moving into the very important Year 10.
Congratulations to Scarlett Williams for competing and winning the Pro Direct Penalty Shootout competition. The winning shot was smashed against the crossbar and beat the goalkeeper who had no chance. Here she is with Mr Chadwick proud of her achievement.
