Year 7 have the perfect start
I wrote last week about how much of a positive impression our Year 7s have made upon our staff; this week they have cemented their reputation as an outstanding year. They have stayed until 4pm every night this week to work with their Head of House perfecting their homework skills. Their teachers have commented upon their immaculate behaviour and desire to learn.
Top Gear Test Track
It was all hands on deck this week as there was some last minute preparation for the Greenpower Trust race this weekend at the BBC Top Gear test track! It will be the first time that we will be racing with our two cars. Good luck to the teams.
Key Stage 3 Assembly
Assistant Principal, Mr Jones, who leads our Key Stage 3 led an assembly for our Years 7 and 8 on Tuesday morning in The Platform. We are able to have all of our Year 7 and 8 students together and as well as hearing from Mr Jones, Mr Pugh spoke to them about the exciting future that lies ahead of them.
Performing Arts Academy Auditions
Do you love acting, singing and dancing? Do you want to be part of the cast that will perform the first production in our new theatre, The Platform?
Miss Pappin is inviting all interested students to attend open auditions on Tuesday and Thursday next week from 3pm-5pm in The Platform. You don’t need to prepare anything, just turn up in suitable clothing ready to take part in a series of performing arts workshops! A limited number of places are available to all students in all years (except Y11) including sixth form.
The Performing Arts Academy aims to give dedicated and enthusiastic performing arts students a range of experiences including practical workshops, seminars and trips that will develop the students’ skills and ambitions in a wide range of areas. In particular acting, singing and dancing. The culmination of the academy will be a showcase performance at Easter, supported by many other performance opportunities along the way.
I look forward to announcing who makes the PAA class of 2019-2020 in next week’s blog!
Climbing wall ready for our students
Our Lead Practitioner, Mr Bez, is also a highly-qualified climber. He has spent time this week adding new routes to the climbing wall making it ready for our students to use.
A level Product Design
Mr Hadley has wasted no time in getting his 6th Form students back into the swing of things. In addition to the theoretical aspects of the course, the students have the opportunity to use our exceptional range of equipment to work on a whole host of new products. I look forward to seeing the fruits of their labour in future weeks.
Great to see our Year 7 students getting to grips with cooking @jamieoliver, #healthy pancakes, with that all important hidden fruit!! Impressive skills! Great fun cooking……now for the washing up!!
Giant killing season opener
It was a great season-opening performance from all our Team TA First XI players to come away with a 4-2 win against a very strong Hartpury College team. I can not explain just how impressive this result is. This year we have been promoted into the top College league – we are travelling all over the South of England playing colleges with thousands of 6th Form students. Just to be in this league is staggering. To open with a win against a college that has an incredible sporting pedigree is nothing short of amazing. I am so proud of our boys.
Man of the Match was Ethan Slater.
Harry Ford signs for Exeter
This results against Hartpury was all the more impressive given that we are no longer able to play our Year 13 goal-scoring ace, Harry Ford, who has just signed a two-year deal with Exeter City. He has worked hard on his game over the past year and has now been rewarded with this contract. We all wish him the very best of luck for his future career.
First XI Captain and Vice-Captain
Captain for the 2019/20 season is Josh Nico land Jamie Passmore who will be our Vice-Captain. Congratulations to them both and I hope the season continues to be a great success.
Ellie plays against West Ham
I am very proud to report on Ellie Mitchell’s continued footballing successes. Last weekend she played in goal for Yeovil Town’s Under 18s against West Ham. They played out a 1 – 1 draw. Well done, Ellie!
I am predicting that this year I will be reporting on some incredible successes in table tennis. These boys from our Table Table Performance Academy will be plying their trade in the South Devon and Torbay Table Tennis League this season in addition to a range of school competitions. We wish them all the very best.
Year 7 Ivan Vaplak, Jakub Piwowar Year 9 William Hall, William Bevan, Kai Fowler, Year 10 Igor Sniegocki, Year 11 Nick Turner
If you want to improve your table tennis or you have never played table tennis before and fancy a go why not come along to our schools club. Wednesday lunchtime and Wednesday after school every week
